  • Jane Schoeneborn

Originally from the Uk, Jane came to the US in 1988. She absolutely loves living in this country and especially in the beautiful Annapolis area where she has lived for the past 20 years. Jane always participated in fitness in some shape or form from Jane Fonda tapes to PiYo and everything in between. After suffering a mild injury (and ignoring it for two years) she found herself in the position of not being able to walk comfortably let alone work out! She finally got help from physical and neuromuscular therapists who re-aligned her body and got her back on track along with advising her to do Pilates. When Jane first walked into the Club Pilates studio she knew she found “her place”. She found everyone was so friendly and helpful and the workout was amazing, she was hooked! Jane has enjoyed every minute of her journey to reach her goal of becoming a Pilates instructor through the teacher training program. One of her favorite things to do is to continue her education in the Pilates field. Jane always has the next certification in her sights and is constantly working towards it. Her aim as an instructor is to give our clients the same feeling she had on her first day, that Club Pilates is a friendly, safe environment where we can learn how to strengthen, stretch, and control our bodies at our own pace, have fun while we’re doing it, and maybe learn a little something along the way.

She taught College English for 12 years and was head of the English Department at a private prep school for 6 years. Her motivation and passion to teach an array of fitness formats is due to her “love of seeing people learn”.

  • Katie Adams

After years of taking ballet, other forms of dance, and yoga, Katie tried Pilates a few years ago and loved it! She trained through the Club Pilates program and enjoys every class she teaches or takes.

  • Kirstin Dixon

    CP Instructor

I started my Pilates journey working at the front desk. I saw how much it helped people and how wonderful the atmosphere in the studio was and I was hooked! I loved it so much that I decided to become and instructor and have been teaching since May 2018. When not teaching, I can be seen in the theater scene in Annapolis. I love to sing and dance and one of my favorites spots is the Annapolis Summer Garden Theater. If you’re ever around in the summer you should come check it out! Favorite Pilates move: Pike on the Exo Chair. It’s just so fun once you get it and you can make it more challenging in so many ways. Favorite Pilates Stretch: Side split using the reformer. If you’ve seen me do it you know why. As a dancer, I never had my side split till now and it’s all because of this stretch!

As a full-time working mother of two busy teenagers, Rachel enjoys giving back by teaching clients the value of Pilates and watching them grow and reach their personal goals. • Ruby Peterson

At the age of 16, Ruby began her love affair with dance. You might think, that’s pretty old to accomplish a career in dance. Simply put she would not give up. Through dance she developed her passion and love of Pilates under the tutelage of The Dance Theater of Harlem Instructors Denise Jefferson and Pat Thomas. At that time Ruby was blessed to be one of the original members of the world-renowned Philadelphia Dance Company which is where she received her training in Pilates. Her entire core training included Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, and Pilates. Ruby performed with the company for approximately 8 years in various colleges and theaters throughout the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York. Performance credits include the Walnut Street Theater, The Academy of Music, and Atlantic City New Jersey night club experience with the Joan Myers Dancers. Ruby started her journey with The Philadelphia School of Dance Arts under the direction of Joan Meyers who is the Executive Director of Philadanco. She danced in ten years of annual performances with Dance Arts and also had the privilege of performing with Opera Ebony’s performance of Riggoletto. While employed as a member of Philadanco’s performing company Ruby held various positions - Rehearsal Mistress, Dance Captain, Assistant Secretary and Assistant Stage Manager. After dance she moved on to Pilates training under Power Pilates Level III Advanced, Peak Pilates Level II, and now Club Pilates. She is currently performing her passion as one of a fabulous team of Instructors for the Club Pilates Studios located in Severna Park, and Annapolis Maryland.

  • Carla Bowling

    CP Instructor

In Carla’s opinion, an instructor should be part motivating and part educating. Carla’s classes provide knowledge of the Pilates Method, along with encouragement throughout the workout. Her energy is magnetic. She keeps her classes fresh by offering something different and amazing every time she teaches! She strives to help you see and feel the benefits quickly through concentration and inward focus of the mind over the body. She’s stays watchful over her students to check on form and position of each exercise. Carla started her Pilates journey in CP Annapolis a few years ago. As a member she experienced first-hand how Pilates helped her from old gymnastics injuries. She jumped all-in to complete the comprehensive 500-hour CP Teacher Training Program and has been passionately and enthusiastically teaching since Jan. 2019. The incredible benefits of her breathing through her own personal Pilates practice has been life changing and is what inspires her. Carla says, “taking our life-giving breath for granted is so common and easily forgotten through our busy day to day living”. She wants your time in her class to be refreshing, cleansing, detoxifying and energizing! Carla’s happiest when she sees her students have their “AH-HA” moments. Witnessing them accessing a deeper self-awareness and celebrating their new ability and break through makes her heart smile. Carla is happiest too, when she’s in her kitchen, cookin’ up a storm!

She pursued her goal of becoming an instructor through the Club Pilates teacher training program and continues to work to improve her practice through workshops and ongoing coaching. Her goal is to provide each client with an amazing experience that not only enhances their physical well-being but also provides connection, joy and ongoing learning (as well as the occasional corny joke).

  • Beth Willertz

  • Annita Martinez

    CP Instructor

Annita is well centered, very happy, and exuberantly Spirited. Her moto of..….”I love Mondays…life starts on Mondays” is so telling of who she is. The Brazilian born, 4 language speaking, fashion designer came from her home country of Brazil straight to LA and immersed herself in the Fashion Industry. She owned her own stores in Brazil, Argentina, and Miami. She has a flair for fashion that carries over into her life. While living in LA, working in the hustle and bustle, Annita became discontent with the culture and atmosphere. She said “I was out of balance spiritually, emotionally, and with my values in life. It was then that Annita found Club Pilates in LA. She initially went to help ease her back pain caused by an accident. But soon discovered that Pilates was filling a space inside of her well beyond her sore back. After only practicing for a few months she noticed that her pain was gone, she was off her pain medications and she felt more like herself than she had in years. From LA to San Francisco, Annita found her way to Annapolis Maryland. As soon as she got to Maryland, she looked for Club Pilates. She found the one in Annapolis. After taking classes there for a few months Annita approached Laura, CP owner, and asked if she thought it would be okay for her to take the teacher training classes? She was concerned about the language difference. Laura quickly assured her that it was more than okay. Annita speaks broken English very well. Her members love the way Annita mixes up phrases like… pick up your waist instead of pick up your weights. They love to tease their teacher and lovingly joke with her about it. Annita is delighted with her life now. She finds immense joy in coming to work, teaching her clients and lavishing her love on all of them. When members speak about the impact that Annita has made in their lives through Pilates, it is with warmth and gratitude that Annita tucks that away in her heart. She teaches with calm, sensitivity and purpose. She says, “alignment is everything, you must respect the design of the body, your breathing, and they way to build upon small success”.

  • Paula Santos

Paula has always been passionate about exercise, teaching and people. In her home country of Brazil, Paula pursued her passion by becoming a Physical Education teacher. She works with kids, teens, and adults. Her long love of sports, including her favorite soccer, was an easy choice for coaching; but her love for all age groups came when she started personal training. A few years ago, Paula encountered PILATES. She has said, “this methodology completely changed my life, my body, and my mind”. She felt that she could connect more with herself and wanted to pass all that along to her clients. Paula finds great satisfaction in teaching youth and adults alike. She gleans from all her experiences to create a challenging Pilates class. Her belief is that you can always go a bit further, harder, longer, or deeper while respecting your limitations. Paula will always encourage and challenge people to achieve the best that they can be. She says “teaching Pilates for me is about helping people to improve the quality of their life”. It is helping them see that a mindset of I CAN DO THIS vs a mindset of I CAN’T that is a great reward to her. Paula believes that every class can and will help you achieve the next level of wellness…. Body, Mind, and Spirit. Teaching Pilates is contributing to a better, more active, and healthy world in Paula’s view. “Having flexibility, balance, mobility, strength, control, passion and a good mind – body connected is why I love to spread Pilates to the world”!

  • Carrie Neuman

    CP Instructor

I owe my daughter for introducing me to the wonderful world of Pilates. She took a job working the front desk at Club Pilates in Annapolis and soon began extolling the virtues of Pilates. My full time job though very satisfying was incredibly sedentary. Turns out radio dj’s do a lot more sitting than dancing! At the time I had just been diagnosed with two blood clots and it was very important that I find some activity I enjoyed and could stick with. Over the years I had dabbled in just about everything from Jane Fonda, to step aerobics, kick-boxing, Denise Austin, Buns of Steel, Barre, Zumba, Jillian Michaels, Tracy Anderson, hot yoga, and the worst of these HIIT. You see, I’m not exaggerating when I said I tried it all but I could never stick with it. Generally, after 3 months or so I would find myself bored and unmotivated. I was hesitant to believe Pilates was anything more than another fad but 2 years later, here I am. I quickly learned Pilates was accessible to all, challenging without putting undue stress on my mind and body, and with such a wide variety of apparatus and instructors, never the same workout twice. Not only did my blood clots disappear but I have kept them away without the aid of medication. It became increasingly important to me that I not only personally benefit from Pilates but also help guide others on their own Pilates journey because I know the peace of mind it can bring to your life, soundness of body, the strength you will feel, the increased balance and flexibility, the ease of mobility, and the cure from pain and discomfort. When I have clients tell me how much Pilates has benefited them with weight loss, pain, or energy, I feel so rewarded and thrilled that I have been able to create that experience! I am so thankful I get to work at Club Pilates and positively impact others’ lives every day.

With his help and support she was able to make successful life changes and she lost 200lbs. It was during that time she developed a passion for pilates. She now works hard to help and support others find the happiness and joy in life that pilates has done for her the way her friend did for her.
